My Approach

I call myself a storytelling photographer because I strive to create more than a perfectly posed photo to hang above your mantle. Don’t get me wrong, I love a classic portrait and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have a few framed around my house. Let’s be real, though. Life is about 10% perfect and 90% crazy/boring/anything but perfect.

If your life is anything like mine, most of it is spent doing pretty ordinary things. I’ve done some incredible stuff and visited amazing places but most days involve rushed mornings getting kids ready for school while managing to put myself halfway together just to bareeeely make it to work before 8:00 a.m.  I’m at that point in life where my perfect Friday night includes a brand-new Dateline episode, pizza delivery and falling asleep in the recliner by nine with my toddler. And, I love it

life is not the’s the walking in between & I like you walking next to me...

The in-between is where life happens. I learned the hard way how important the simple things are when my son was born four months early. There I was, a first-time mom and I wasn’t allowed to change my son’s diaper for two weeks (much less hold him). Guess who LOVES diaper changes? This girl. In our house, we celebrate the little things.

So, when I approach your session, what I do is this:

I send you a form to complete before your session with questions about who you are, what you like to do as a family and what sweet/silly things your child does that you absolutely adore. Yes, this helps me get to know you and learn what’s important to you but it also gets YOU thinking about what matters in life RIGHT NOW that you don’t want to forget.

Because my end goal is this: Forty years from now, I want these photos to instantly take you back to the place in life that you’re at right now…to remember how your baby played with your necklace or how you loved your third-grader’s toothless smile. Think about what really matters…that’s the story I want to share (and, don’t worry, we’ll take a photo for the mantle, too).

Collections begin at $495. Mini sessions are offered once per year (in the fall, for Christmas).
